Decluttering—How it Can Lead to Spiritual Opportunities

No fee. Registration deadline: April 13.

PROGRAM

We all struggle to some level and degree with “clutter” in our lives—both physical and emotional. The process of “decluttering” is intended to lighten one’s burden that these items can sometimes bring.

Abigail Burford formed her business, “Lighten Up,” as a way to help others through life’s inevitable transitions. Burford provides professional assistance by working side by side with clients who have a desire to lighten their burden. The goal of this clearing out process is to leave individuals with a functional and healthy living space. The “light” symbolizes a sense of inspiration, guidance, and humor to what can be a challenging scenario.

By acknowledging the sentimental attachments individuals may place on objects, Burford encourages letting go of these tangible objects. Her use of mindful exercises allows clients to evaluate and reflect on the objects and treasures people tend to hold on to.

Taking the first step to clearing out your space is never easy, but with this program you will have some ideas as to how to move forward.

WORKSHOP LEADER

As Abigail Burford redirected her initial path as an English instructor, she developed “Lighten Up” after personal hardship, and developing a sincere interest in organization. Such hardships led Burford to reconstruct her life and gain a new approach to living. Burford views this career change as a calling to help others through changing times. The Religious Society of Friends is her faith community. As a Quaker, Burford holds to the tenets of simplicity, non-violence, and integrity.
