Curious about this beautiful, living Japanese art form? Wondering whether you can do it yourself? Thomas De Simone, founder and president of the Bonsai Society of South Jersey, will share his knowledge of this Japanese art form that dates back over a thousand years. Bonsai is a contemplative art form using trees grown in containers. It can provide a pleasant exercise of effort and ingenuity for the grower.
In this program you will learn about bonsai cultivation, as well as learn best practices in how to get started to maintain the trees. This program is designed to be an introduction to this topic. Bonsai examples will also be on display.
Thomas DeSimone, founder and current president of the Bonsai Society of South Jersey, will share his talents, knowledge and enthusiasm for Bonsai. DeSimone has been involved with Bonsai since 1977 and has his own collection of over 30 trees. A graduate of Temple University, he studied Bonsai in Italy, France and in the local area with the Rosade Bonsai Studio in New Hope, PA.
